Earthquake rocks Seattle as thousands report shaking in region overdue for major seismic event

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake has struck the Pacific Northwest, just miles from Seattle, Washington.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck 5.05pm ET on Tuesday, approximately 22 miles from the city of 784,000 people.
