Seattle socialist mayor admits homeless response is failing, doubles down on providers plagued by scandals

Socialist Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson is acknowledging that the city’s response to its homeless drug crisis isn’t working. But her newly announced strategy relies on the same network of providers whose records include a wanted child rapist living at a taxpayer-funded village, workers allegedly held hostage, and an infant dying from drug exposure inside a staffed shelter.

Independent journalist Jonathan Choe challenged Wilson directly during her October 21 announcement.

“Mayor, you’re holding this press conference to admit that the current plan is not working, yet for more than a decade some of these providers behind you, DESC, Plymouth, LIHI, PDA, REACH, have presided over this very homeless crisis the city is dealing with,” Choe asked. “Why do you still have faith in them and why are you sticking by them?”
