Seahawks Could Get ‘Fresh Start’ With Hurts Trade, Says Insider

The Seattle Seahawks are beginning a new era after the firing of coach Pete Carroll, but one NFL insider thinks that this “fresh start” could come in more ways than one — even if he has no evidence for its legitimacy as of yet.

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio speculated during his show Wednesday that the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent firing of offensive coordinator Brian Johnson could lead to an “unhappy” Jalen Hurts and a potential trade eventually. There’s been no indication that Hurts would suddenly want out of Philly after one forgettable season, but Florio thinks the dominoes could start to fall and that the Seahawks would be a team to watch if they do.

“I’m not saying it will (happen), I’m not saying it should. I’m saying it could,” Florio said of a potential trade. “He could say ‘I want out.'”

“ … You can throw the Seahawks in as well, depending who the new head coach is,” Florio said. “You got Geno Smith, where you have an opportunity to get out of the contract, and you could bring in Jalen Hurts if the new head coach decides ‘I think we can make things very special here with Jalen Hurts if he wants out of Philadelphia and needs a fresh start.’”
