Bremerton woman sentenced for vehicular homicide that left her woman dead

A Bremerton woman was sentenced to a little more than seven years in prison last month after a jury found her guilty of a vehicular homicide charge for killing her girlfriend in July 2022.

Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Sally Olsen sentenced Alyssa Richelle Keele, 31, to 88 months in prison for the death of Marcella Mangiola, 42. Keele is appealing the conviction.

During the sentencing hearing in January, loved ones reflected on Mangiola’s care for others, volunteering with the Kitsap Humane Society, how she made a care package at one point during the pandemic – complete with toilet paper – for one of her sisters, how her death had shattered those close to her.

“She was in a vulnerable position, and someone took her heart for granted and crushed it, because that person doesn’t know what love is,” one of Mangiola’s sisters said. “Marcella was a person of love, and she would do anything for her family. I’m just blessed that I had the opportunity for her to be my sister. She was my best friend.”
