Man, 40, accused of DUI, vehicular homicide after wrong-way wreck near JBLM early Sunday

A 40-year-old Arlington man, suspected of driving under the influence, is now accused of vehicular homicide after he drove the wrong way on I-5 and crashed into another car, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The passenger in that vehicle later died at Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. She was identified as Angelica Roberto Campos, 52, of Puyallup. The driver was hurt, too. The 48-year-old Puyallup man was taken to St Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, according to State Patrol.

About 3:50 a.m. Sunday, the Arlington man was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Meanwhile, the two people from Puyallup were headed north. Troopers say they crashed in the area of Berkeley Street.

The Arlington man injured and taken to Madigan Army Medical Center, according to State Patrol.

The road was blocked for more than the three hours following the crash.
