What’s that construction going on near Bradley Lake Park in Puyallup? Here’s what we know

New additions are coming to the Share & Care House branch in Puyallup.

The nonprofit at 702 23rd Ave. SE, just down the street from Bradley Lake Park, will get a new outbuilding, generator and about 15 parking spaces with two electric vehicle charging stations.

Charlene Hamblen, Share & Care House executive director, told The News Tribune that construction work began in April and is expected to finish by July or August.

An outbuilding will provide a dedicated space for donations such as toiletries and kitchenware that help chronically homeless disabled clients. Hamblen said staff has been storing donations in corners or wherever space exists in the main building.

Additional parking spaces are needed to keep up with the growing number of staff and clients. Before construction, the parking lot was in “poor repair,” Hamblen said.

The electric vehicle charging stations will help power the nonprofit’s fleet of about six vehicles. The generator will support the entire facility, which is also the main office, if the power goes out.
