Inmate who escaped in Thurston County on Friday apprehended Tuesday in Seattle

The inmate who escaped from Correctional Industries (CI) headquarters in Tumwater on Aug. 30 was apprehended on Sept. 3 in Seattle and is in state Department of Corrections (DOC) custody, the DOC announced Tuesday.

Christopher Brinkley, 33, was incarcerated at Cedar Creek Corrections Center, a minimum security facility in Littlerock, and was at CI headquarters as part of his approved work program when he escaped on Friday, Aug. 30, according to a DOC news release. He was convicted in King County earlier this year of tampering with a witness and protection order violation and had a release date of June 16, 2026.

Brinkley will be placed in restrictive housing and the case will be referred to local prosecutors for charging, according to a DOC news release.
