It’s been almost two years since Lourdes (Lulu) Hernandez, a self-taught baker, turned her one-woman cottage bakery into a full-fledged brick-and-mortar shop. Lulu’s Bakery Shop in Tacoma offers custom cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, cheesecake, tres leches cake, and more. From start to frosting finish, each treat is craftily designed by Hernandez. And that’s not all: There are fruit tarts, Jericalla Mexican custard desserts, empanadas, Ricas panelas frescas estilo Jalisco (fresh cheese), and more tasty finds.
