Alaska Airlines ends flight connecting Washington & Alaska, Fliers will have other options

Alaska Airlines is discontinuing its route between Seattle Paine Field International Airport (PAE) and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). The Seattle-based carrier originally planned to resume the 1,425-mile service in May 2025, but over the weekend, it filed plans to cease operations permanently.

The route, operated by Horizon Air with Embraer E175 aircraft, initially launched in August 2022 with year-round service. However, it was shifted to a summer-seasonal schedule before ending on August 19, 2024. The decision signals that the route didn’t perform as well as anticipated, affecting passengers who relied on the connection between Everett, Washington, and Anchorage, Alaska.
