Rain and Thunderstorms Forecasted for Western Washington

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued an area forecast for Saturday, October 26, indicating scattered showers throughout the day, followed by a strong front bringing widespread rain and breezy conditions tonight into Sunday. The unstable atmosphere may lead to thunderstorms, and snow levels are expected to drop, allowing for mountain snow in higher elevations.

This morning, light rain is moving across the region due to a frontal system that arrived overnight, with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to near 60 degrees. Wind gusts of up to 55 mph are expected along the Pacific Coast and areas near Whidbey Island. As the next cold front approaches, substantial rainfall is anticipated, with 0.75 to 1.25 inches expected inland, 2 to 2.5 inches along the coast, and 2.5 to 4 inches in the mountains. Snow levels will gradually lower, potentially resulting in a few inches of snow at higher passes by Monday.
