Pacific Northwest Faces Winds, Rain, and Snow as Storm System Hits Western Washington

A powerful atmospheric river is moving into the Pacific Northwest, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow through Thursday. The National Weather Service has expanded a Wind Advisory to include the northern Olympic Peninsula, where wind gusts could reach 50 mph, lasting until 8 AM Wednesday.

This strong storm system is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall to the lowlands and significant snowfall to the mountains. The Olympic Mountains and North Cascades could see up to 7 inches of liquid rain, with snowfall totals reaching up to 2 feet in higher elevations. Snow levels will drop to around 4000 feet by Thursday. Coastal areas may also face flooding, along with possible river flooding and thunderstorms.
