Two child luring attempts reported near a Sammamish elementary school

Police in Sammamish are investigating a second child report of child luring near Margaret Mead Elementary School.

It reportedly happened Tuesday – one day after the Lake Washington School District says a boy was approached by a man in a white van, who tried to get him to climb in.

According to a letter sent to parents, the boy told his family about the incident, who then called law enforcement and administrators.

The school’s interim principal sent out an additional letter Tuesday, stating another student was approached by a man in a van. The student notified the school office, who reported it to the police.

Police have increased patrols in the area this week as an added precaution and the school is urging parents to talk with their children about what to do if they are approached by a stranger.
