Starbucks union strike expands to 9 states

Starbucks union workers are expanding their strike.

It has now reached nine states.

Starbucks Workers United said the workers it represents in Missouri, New Jersey and New York started their strike Sunday.

Colorado, Ohio, and Pennsylvania joined the strike Saturday.

Workers United represents over 10,000 workers across over 525 stores in the United States.

The union says the strike could reach hundreds of stores by Tuesday.

On Friday, workers in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Chicago began their strike.

Workers have promised to stay on strike for five days as they fight for higher pay and better working conditions.

A Starbucks spokesperson says union delegates “prematurely ended a bargaining session,” last week, adding that the union needs to return to the table in order to reach any kind of agreement with the company. You can read the full statement here.
