SEATTLE — Local Port Commissioners say new trade data just out Wednesday shows a drastic drop in cargo shipments scheduled to arrive at West Coast ports in May from Asia, that schedule data includes the Port of Seattle and the Port of Tacoma.
During a Zoom call with Port of Seattle Commissioner Ray Calkins and Port of Tacoma Commissioner Dick Marzano, Managing Members of the Northwest Seaport Alliance both raised concerns about higher unemployment and higher inflation associated with the tariffs, in particular the 145% tariff on China.
