Pioneer Square, with its economic reliance on tourists, office workers, and stadium events, was maybe the part of Seattle most impacted by the pandemic lockdown. As people hunkered down in their homes, the downtown neighborhood shut down, and many bars and restaurants were forced to close. But Pioneer Square has been rebounding, and there’s no better sign of its revival than the swanky new rooftop bar that’s opening atop a swanky new hotel.
Called Firn (we know how to pronounce this but we won’t tell you), the bar is going to have an intriguing menu that focuses on ice — think fancy shaved ice and slushies. But the main attraction is the view of the surrounding downtown skyline, the sort of view you don’t have access to unless you’re pals with someone with an apartment in a nearby high-rise. It will be the neighborhood’s only rooftop bar, and it’ll be open until 11 p.m. on weeknights and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, relatively late hours by Seattle standards…
