SEATTLE — A side street in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood has found itself immersed in rampant drug use by a crowd of addicts who keep returning.
Although city crews have cleared encampments from a stretch of 33rd Ave NE, between NE 125th St and NE 130th St, people who live in the area said fentanyl users keep finding their way back. Many have reached out to city officials for months asking for help, and Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore is now pushing for change.
As city streets go, 33rd should be one of the quieter ones. It runs a block east of Lake City Way and is a residential area that many immigrant, refugee, and low-income families call home.
