UPDATE: Woman killed, 2 injured in 97A head-on collision

ENTIAT — A Sammamish woman is dead and two others hurt in a head-on collision Tuesday on Highway 97A south of Entiat.

Sylvia Harrison, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene near milepost 209 between Entiat and Olds Station. Harrison was the passenger in a northbound Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 68-year-old Stephen L. Harrison, also of Sammamish, when their vehicle was struck about 1:30 p.m. by a Subaru Forester driven by Sharon I. Wilson, 77, of Cashmere.

Both Wilson and the surviving driver were taken by ambulance to Confluence Health Hospital in Wenatchee. The accident and the subsequent police and rescue efforts kept the highway closed for just over three hours…
