Fatal Collision on Interstate 5 Claims Lives of Two Washington Residents in Jackson County

On the afternoon of May 12th, tragedy struck Interstate 5 in Jackson County, where a fatal collision claimed the lives of two Washington residents. According to the Oregon State Police, the incident involved a northbound Ford F-150 driven by 69-year-old Michael Kevin Kasser of Issaquah, Washington, and a parked commercial motor vehicle.

The preliminary report suggests that Kasser’s vehicle unexpectedly veered off its lane and collided with the trailer of the parked Volvo, which was occupied by 62-year-old Mohamed A. Baioumy of Moreno Valley, California. The impact was severe enough to cause instant fatalities to both Michael Kevin Kasser and his passenger, 68-year-old Linda Elaine Kasser, also from Issaquah. Baioumy, the Volvo occupant, was unharmed in the crash.

Emergency response teams, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Cal-Fire, Ashland Fire and Rescue, and ODOT, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and conduct the necessary investigations.
