Young anglers in Kent participate in annual Fishing Experience

More than 120 young anglers ages 4 to 14 participated in the annual Fishing Experience Saturday, May 17 at the Old Fishing Hole Park in Kent.

Each spring the Rotary Club of Kent partners with the City of Kent Parks Department to stock the fishing hole along Frager Road, just south of West Meeker Street, with more than 1,000 trout for the free event, according to the city of Kent. Kids are allowed to catch up to two fish.

The noncompetitive event focuses on fishing techniques, safety around water and environmental stewardship. Each participant partners with an experienced guide for a fishing lesson and opportunity to catch a trout. All fishing equipment is provided for the participants…
