Rivers and lakes are a dangerous place to cool off during Washington’s hot spell

SEATTLE — Record-breaking heat is expected to be back in western Washington this weekend, which means many people will be doing all they can to stay cool.

But the National Weather Service office in Seattle is warning people that local rivers and lakes are not the safest place to get relief from the heat right now.

Why? These bodies of water are not nearly as warm as they will be during late summer…
