Travelers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac) in Seattle, Washington, were impacted by delays Saturday due to a full ground stop over security concerns, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Social media users claimed that the airport is closed for arrivals, and no one is allowed to leave.
SeaTac’s official X account posted that police and fire officials are investigating a “situation” involving an aircraft on the runway. The account also said one person is in custody, and that passengers had been removed from a plane and sent back to the airport terminal with additional security screening.
At 1:40 p.m., vehicles with flashing lights and other commercial vehicles were seen gathered behind a plane on the tarmac, according to Fox 13. The FAA has not disclosed specific details about the threat, however.
