Despite cloudy skies, the spirit of freedom and unity filled Perry Avenue June 19, as community members gathered for the Bremerton Juneteenth Block Party, a free, family-friendly event held in honor of the day that marked the end of slavery in the United States.
Held from 1 to 5 p.m., the celebration featured a wide range of activities for all ages, including open mic performances, music by DJ XTen, face painting, food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, and classic card games like Spades and Uno.
