Saturday was one of the coolest starts to summer on record, weather service says

Summer got off to a very cool start on Saturday with temperatures in South Sound nearly setting records for new lows, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle.

The daytime “high” in the Seattle/Tacoma area was 58 degrees, nearly tying the record of 57 degrees set for June 21 in 1981, said meteorologist Samantha Borth on Sunday.

The same cool conditions played out in the Olympia area as well on Saturday…
