Washington state is home to one of the top research universities in the world, according to a newly updated report from U.S. News & World Report.
The University of Washington ranked eighth in U.S. News’ “2025-26 Best Global Universities” report. The media company stated that its list encompasses over 2,200 universities from more than 100 countries. The rankings were based on the schools’ “global and regional reputation and research performance,” the report stated.
