Seattle’s interim police chief updates on hiring efforts, controversial protest comment

SEATTLE — Seattle Interim Police Chief Shon Barnes is now poised to drop the temporary tag and be voted in as the official chief next week.

He was unanimously confirmed during the City Council’s Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, and is claiming the department could be back to pre-pandemic staffing by 2027.
