New state laws go into effect July 1. Here are some increases that will hurt your wallet

SEATTLE — Several new laws go into effect in Washington state this month, but with money on everyone’s minds, we’re focusing on those that will hit you, or someone else, where it hurts – the wallet.

Gas prices

You’ll now pay 6 cents more a gallon next time you fill up your ride. That hikes the state’s per-gallon tax rate from 49.4 cents to 55.4 cents.

Diesel is up 3 cents a gallon.

But that’s not all. Per-gallon prices for unleaded will rise 2% on July 1 of every year to adjust for inflation. Diesel will increase by 3 cents in two years; then in 2028, it will increase 2% per gallon each year…
