UW resident doctor charged with diverting fentanyl from young patients

SEATTLE — A University of Washington resident doctor at Seattle Children’s Hospital is accused of diverting fentanyl and other controlled substances while treating children.

Dr. Andrew Voegel-Podadera, 35, is charged with two counts of acquiring a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, deception, and subterfuge.

An anesthesia resident, Voegel-Podadera was found to have practiced medicine while under the influence, and tampering and diverting controlled substances ordered for three children, according to the Seattle division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA Seattle)…
