Doctor at Seattle hospital faces charges of ‘diverting’ fentanyl, other powerful drugs from sick children

A doctor at a Seattle hospital has been charged with “diverting” fentanyl and other controlled substances meant for children who were patients.

Andrew Voegel-Podadera, 35, was arrested at his home last week, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said in a statement. He was an anesthesia resident and worked at Seattle Children’s Hospital, the University of Washington Medical School, UW Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center.

Voegel-Podadera has been charged with two counts of acquiring a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, deception and subterfuge, according to the DEA’s Seattle office…
