Seattle and Portland both plead collective ignorance when it comes to how to deal with violent people DOING violent things.
Lately, reporters have been bemoaning the death of Damon Lamar Johnson. His neighbors called the police because of his crazy behavior and the knives he displayed. Officers took him into custody and, handcuffed on the floor he died.
Journalist Richard Cheverton wrote about Johnson’s plight. He lived in one of those transition places provided for the otherwise homeless…you know, the ones taxpayers fund with part of the 700-million bucks the Portland area spent just last year on the so-called “homeless” problem. The liberals who make decisions in this region don’t want those violent people locked up…and they don’t want police to handle it. They’re now demanding alternatives…
