Light rail shooting in Seattle raises transit safety concerns amid increasing ridership

SEATTLE — A man who was shot in the head after coming down the platform at a Seattle light rail station is renewing concerns about transit safety among riders, both on trains and aboard buses.

Seattle police said the shooting victim, 48, had just exited the Northgate LINK station and was standing near the bus bays on the street level when two men approached him from behind and one of them fired a gun at his head. The man survived and remains at Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
