After a series of nighttime burglaries left business owners in Kirkland and neighboring counties grappling with property damage and loss of revenues, police have nabbed a 40-year-old Everett man believed to be behind the multi-county crime spree. Between the months of April and July, a serial burglar made waves through King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Thurston counties, smashing his way into local businesses with a brute force that seemed indifferent to the trauma left in its wake.
The break-ins started with several incidents in Kirkland’s Houghton neighborhood. The suspect’s method involved breaking windows and using power tools to open cash safes and registers, causing significant damage beyond just theft. Kirkland Police, working with other local agencies, launched a detailed investigation. They identified a vehicle linked to the crimes and, after serving several search warrants, arrested the suspect.
According to the Kirkland Police Department, their suspect has been linked to at least 22 burglaries. On July 23, in a maneuver devoid of drama or incident, detectives moved in and apprehended the man in Snohomish County.
