Bellevue police killed man armed with an air rifle, investigators say

A Bellevue police officer shot and killed a man who shot at officers with a high-velocity air rifle early Friday, investigators confirmed nearly 18 hours later.

Washington State Patrol Sgt. Jermaine Walker confirmed the fatal shooting, which is under investigation by King County’s Independent Force Investigation Team. The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Walker said no other information about the shooting victim, or the involved officer or officers has been released. Bellevue police spokesperson Seth Tyler said the department would not independently release body- or dash-camera video. That will be left up to the independent investigators, he said…
