Millions of people across the Pacific Northwest were urged to stay in air-conditioned rooms as Seattle and surrounding areas were placed under a heat advisory amid high temperatures on Monday.
The alert comes as the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Seattle shared statistics that revealed the number of 90-degree or hotter days in Seattle, measured in 10-year increments, had increased eightfold since 1946 to 1955.
