PUYALLUP, Wash. — With wildfires burning across the state, health officials are keeping a close watch on air quality as smoke was visible Thursday from Seattle neighborhoods to Bonney Lake.
“Luckily in Western Washington, most of that smoke is above us in the atmosphere, but that does explain the hazy skies and maybe a red sun,” the state Department of Ecology’s lead smoke forecaster Beth Friedman explained. “It’s not a huge concern. Of course, everyone has their own sensitivity to smoke concentrations, so if you are sensitive to any of that smoke, definitely try to reduce exposure as best you can by limiting time outside.”
