Medina directs state Route 520 lid complaints to WSDOT

MEDINA, Wash. — The City of Medina says it has received complaints about deteriorating conditions on the state Route 520 lid but says the property is not its responsibility to maintain.

“The SR 520 lid is property owned, controlled, and maintained by WSDOT,” city manager Jeff Swanson said in a statement. “For its own reasons, WSDOT recently decided that it would no longer maintain the lid and notified the City of Medina accordingly.”

Built about 20 years ago as part of the SR 520 floating bridge replacement, the lid connects neighborhoods and serves as a busy corridor for pedestrians and cyclists. Residents and visitors have reported accumulating garbage and unmaintained landscaping…
