Man to be sentenced for brutal Point Defiance Park stabbing, parkgoers prioritize safety

TACOMA, Wash. — The man found guilty in a random, brutal stabbing attack in Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park last year will be sentenced this Friday.

Nicholas Matthew was found guilty of first-degree attempted murder in August. Victoria Nizzoli, who was repeatedly stabbed, miraculously fought off Matthew and managed to escape.
