West Seattle peace rally calls for unity

A call for peace echoed along the West Seattle waterfront on Sunday, September 21, as around 150 people gathered for the “Peace For All Rally and Human Banner Project”. The event, sponsored by West Seattle Indivisible, was held to coincide with the United Nations’ International Day of Peace and advocate for peace at local, national, and global levels.

The rally took place from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at 2130 Harbor Ave SW, a “retired” dock yard located just south of Salty’s restaurant. A key feature of the event was the planned formation of a 1,000-person human banner spelling out “PEACE FOR ALL”. The turnout was smaller than organizers had hoped, with each letter requiring about 100 people.

The event featured a diverse lineup of speakers, including Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, who delivered a powerful message of unity and resistance. He addressed the crowd, stating:
