Stolen Car Jumps Partially Open Seattle Bridge in Wild Police Chase

  • A stolen car jumps partially open University Bridge in a dramatic Seattle chase.
  • Driver smashed safety gate and launched across the gap before fleeing.
  • Vehicle later found abandoned and heavily damaged, suspect still at large.

Most folks aren’t criminals, but that doesn’t stop them from at least considering how they might escape a police chase. One way we often see it on TV or in movies is by daring maneuvers, rally-style drifting, or even jumping a bridge. That last method is exactly how one person, yet to be found by police, managed to escape while driving a stolen car in Seattle recently.

Initially, officers tried to stop the Audi around 12:20 p.m. when they spotted a stolen license plate on the car around 10th Ave E and East Boston St. The driver refused to pull over and instead decided to flee the scene. Authorities lost a visual but quickly found the car again.
