Kent Police arrest 3 in downtown park on warrants, drugs

Three men were arrested early Friday, Oct. 3 in a downtown Kent park after officers found they had multiple outstanding warrants and one was carrying a large quantity of methamphetamine, according to the Kent Police Department.

Police said Officer Joss was on routine patrol around 6 a.m. when he contacted a group of people inside the closed park. Officers frequently encounter vandalism and drug use in parks during overnight hours, police said.

One man, a 51-year-old Kent resident, initially gave officers a false name and birthday and claimed to never have had an identification card. After a fingerprint scan, officers determined he had a Department of Corrections no bail warrant for escaping community custody for failure to register as a sex offender…
