Seattle man sentenced to year in jail for killing cats

SEATTLE — A Seattle man was sentenced this week to 364 days in jail for killing cats in the city’s Georgetown neighborhood, bringing closure to a case that mobilized community volunteers and sparked a fight for justice.

Antoine Tyrant, also known as Antoine Runner, was handed the sentence after being arrested in April on animal cruelty charges. He will receive credit for time served. The case centered on attacks on cats living beneath Seattle’s interstate, an area where the nonprofit Alley Cat Project maintains a colony of feral cats.
