Two 17-year-old boys were taken into custody on Sunday in Seattle after a failed attempt to evade police resulted in a car crash. The vehicle involved was reported stolen during an armed robbery earlier the same day, according to SPD Blotter.
The initial incident was reported on Oct. 12, when Seattle police, in conjunction with the Renton Police Department, identified and attempted to stop the stolen vehicle around 9:50 p.m. What began as a high-risk traffic stop quickly devolved into a chase as the driver bolted from Seattle officers, speeding southbound down Aurora Avenue North and running through several red lights. The chaotic pursuit came to an abrupt end when the car lost control and collided with an SUV before crashing into a fence in the Greenlake neighborhood.
Seattle’s Community Response Group (CRG) apprehended the driver immediately after the crash. Two other male occupants attempted to flee on foot in divergent directions, with CRG officers successfully capturing one of them nearby.
