On October 21, 2025, a street preacher was assaulted and had his sign taken outside a Mariner game. The incident was recorded on a cell phone and shared on social media. West Precinct officers identified the suspect from previous encounters and spoke with other street preachers at a nearby Seahawk game to locate the victim.
After interviewing the victim, officers found probable cause to investigate the case as a hate crime. They determined the suspect had allegedly attacked the victim on three occasions, reportedly due to the victim’s religious beliefs.
