King County councilmember urges ‘Stupid Motorist Law’ to hold semi-truck drivers responsible for bridge strikes

CLE ELUM, Wash. — After a series of crashes in which semi-trucks slammed into bridges in western Washington, King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn is pushing for a state law that would hold motorists accountable for those types of incidents.

He dubbed it the “Stupid Motorist Law.”

“This isn’t just another car accident [and] we gotta stop treating it like another car accident. It’s a serious economic harm and a harm to taxpayers,” Dunn told KING 5. “If we don’t put something like this in place, it’s going to keep happening.”…
