Little Free Libraries at SEA Airport Offer Local Travelers and Staff Free Books

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has installed two Little Free Libraries (LFLs) in its terminal. The libraries are located near Gates A1 and A3. Travelers and staff can take or leave books, participating in a global book-sharing program. The LFLs offer reading material for people waiting for flights or after arriving at the airport.

Little Free Library is a non-profit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Its mission is to build community, encourage reading, and increase book access. Since 2009, the organization has registered over 200,000 libraries in 128 countries. It estimates that 400 million books have been shared through its network.

SEA was one of the first international airports to add LFLs. The project began in 2022 after a proposal by Anika Klix, a former Port of Seattle employee, and author Amy Dressler at a Port Shark Tank event in 2021. Other airports, including Rhode Island T. F.
