Iconic venue in 1910 building has been heart of Seattle’s underground music scene for past 20 years

For countless Seattle music fans, El Corazon isn’t just a venue — it’s a rite of passage. The name means “the heart” in Spanish, and for more than a century this spot on Eastlake Avenue has been exactly that: a living, beating hub of sound, sweat, and shared experience.

Owner Dana Sims first fell in love with live music at just thirteen, when he saw his first concert — an experience that rewired him completely. “From that moment,” he recalls, “music became the driving force of my life.” Decades later, that same energy fuels El Corazon, an independent, all-ages venue that continues to define what live music means in Seattle.
