BURIEN, Wash. — A Burien animal shelter is turning heartbreak into hope after vandals targeted its vehicles over the weekend, thanks to a swift community response and support from local businesses.
Officials at CARES Animal Shelter say two individuals vandalized their truck and van early Saturday morning around 5:15 a.m., slashing six tires, smashing three windows, and breaking a large passenger mirror. The shelter’s staff were deeply shaken by the attack.
“It’s humbling to see everybody step up and ride a storm and come through the end,” said Debra George, director of CARES Animal Shelter. “We are the advocates for the animal. We speak for the animals, and we try to always do what’s best for the animals.”…
