The Seattle radio community will come together next week to celebrate the life and legacy of Radio Hall of Famer Bob Rivers, whose career defined a generation of morning radio in the Pacific Northwest. A public memorial and benefit event will take place Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel’s Events Center, honoring Rivers who died March 11 at age 68 following complications from esophageal cancer.
The evening — billed as part concert, part comedy show — will feature performances by “Spike & The Impalers,” “Heart by Heart,” and comedian Andrew Rivers, Bob’s son. Radio friends and former co-hosts Spike O’Neill, Joe Bryant, and BJ Shea will emcee the program. Proceeds will benefit the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank and The Summer Stars Foundation, a Massachusetts-based performing arts camp Rivers supported for years.
“Making this tribute a charity event would have been important to him,” retired Pacific Northwest radio executive Lisa Decker, a longtime friend of Rivers who is organizing the event told the Seattle Times. “This is perfect for Bob — he would have loved this.”…
