Seattle Residents Approve $1.3 Billion Levy to Expand Childcare, School Services, and Free College Tuition

Seattle voters have approved Proposition No. 1, renewing the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) levy. According to King County Elections, the measure is passing with over 76% of the vote. The six-year levy will generate $1.3 billion. It aims to increase access to affordable childcare, expand mental health and safety services in schools, and provide up to two years of free tuition at Seattle Colleges for all public high school graduates.

Mayor Bruce Harrell, Councilmember Maritza Rivera, Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL) leaders, and education partners acknowledged the outcome. Mayor Harrell stated that the renewed levy will help ensure all children in Seattle have educational opportunities. He thanked voters, educators, community partners, and the City Council for their support.
