In the early hours of Sunday, a man defending his sports car from armed thieves on Queen Anne Hill fired shots at the assailants, reportedly wounding two of them. According to police, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a group of four masked individuals in a white sedan confronted the man after he parked his vehicle on 1st Ave. N., close to the Queen Anne Safeway.
Authorities revealed that two of the suspects were armed, while the victim, a legally-armed individual, discharged his firearm in self-defense. Upon officers’ arrival, one suspect was found with multiple gunshot wounds, while the other three fled the scene. Investigators later discovered that one of the fleeing suspects was taken to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot injury. The victim, a licensed gun owner, was detained and questioned by police, who also retrieved his firearm for examination.
Seattle Fire Department medics arrived shortly after and treated the injured suspect before he was transported to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition under police guard. According to detectives, the attempted carjacking unfolded after a brief exchange between the victim and the suspects.
