5 years later, inquest begins on police killing of Andrea Churna, a woman in crisis

REDMOND, Wash. — A King County inquest into the death of a woman shot and killed by Redmond police in 2020 began Monday, marking a new chapter in a case that has drawn scrutiny over police conduct and mental health response.

The inquest, an independent fact-finding process overseen by King County, will examine the circumstances surrounding the death of 39-year-old Andrea Churna.
